53rd pair and counting
By jeff
I'm on my 3rd pair of these boots, and there's not much more I could ask of a boot worn 5/6days per week 8-14hrs per day for a year+. I beat the snot out of these boots, and they take every single bit of it in stride (heh, pun). The boots come in wide sizes, get'm if you need'm. The neck could be considered tight, but you don't need the boots being mud-sucked off your foot. Great pull loops though they're more suited for smallish fingers.
The end result of 12+mos of snot beating is:
1) the sole at the ball of the foot becomes too thin, and a lug of tread comes off (bye bye waterproof boot)
2) The padded insert breaks down and isn't nearly as comfortable as it once was for standing/walking/working for hours on end
3) the lining in the neck separates from the outer shell, but since it stays attached at the top, it's not that big of a deal.
For the price, no one can beat'm. Half my 16 man crew wear them, and you'd get about the same review from them all. Some left the Mud Dogs but they all come back sooner or later. Some guys went to $180+ boots, didn't even run them out, and came back to Mud Dogs.
My current set of boots is actually in the above condition, and I wear them every day still. Winter is coming though, and don't want to get caught w/o some new Mud Dogs on. So I'm shopping. Can't find them at Cabelas anymore, so on-line I am.
Happy working!
God Bless America!!!

2Too narrow for my foot to enter
By Gary J. Figueroa
Having worn a lace up version of this Georgia Boot for the past year, I was dissapointed to learn that version had been discontinued. As an alternate choice, I decided to attempt the Wellington style. Unfortunately, the Wellington style is far too narrow to allow my foot ease of entry. And, although the design features provide for a means of a sure grip and decent tug points, there is no flex in the bend above the ankle. It would be great to have this product line reintroduced with the lace-up versions. Overall, the Muddog makes for a great boot for those of us exposed to wet environments.
