From the Manufacturer
Hunting isn't their hobby. It's their calling. It's all they were made to do. In sixty years, they've never lost focus. They've never followed anything but their instincts. They've never let up. They still live for the chase, pursuing innovation from dusk to dawn. They're in the fields, the blinds and the stands, long after the fair-weather crowd heads inside. They do all of this to build incredible hunting boots, because at Irish Setter, the hunt never ends.

I've owned Irish Setter boots before, as well as Vasque, and some "No Name" brands. These rank with the best, and are much lighter in weight than past Irish Setter boots I have owned. Plus they look good. That said, the main concern I have about them is that they seem quite snug for a 10.5 D boot. When I first tried them on I was wearing a relatively thin pair of socks, and they were snug. I'm counting on them loosening up a bit with wear. I'm a geologist that does a fair amount of field work and boots have to be comfortable. I routinely wear 2 pair of socks, a liner sock and then a regular, thicker boot-type of sock. Right now these boots will only accommodate a liner sock plus another thin sock. I wore tham on a trial run this morning on a 1.5 mile walk with my dog (and a pair of medium weight socks. They were comfortable and not issues with rubbing (they are snug as I said).
The socks are pretty aggressive, and I easily picked up some stones in the lugs. That's always annoying to me,, but it cant be helped in some cases. But these sole lugs are really aggressive.
The sock issue may turn out to be a non-issue because these boots are lined with a new type of thinsulate. But there is definitely no room for am additional insole in these boots. I haven't tried to remove the insole that came with them as it seems pretty comfortable as is.
So thus far I can only give them a 4 star rating. After a few months I'll try to remember to update.

Fantastic boot. Lightweight, warm and comfortable wear. The boot could have used the metal logo plate on the 12" ELK model for distinction. I recommend it highly.

I have always bought really nice running shoes and sneakers, but i have always gone cheap on boots...
Not anymore. These are some of the best shoes i have ever bought. Used them in a heavy rain storm the first day i got them. not even one drop of water got inside.
The leather Flap at the Bottom of the laces is removable, i like it there, but i like that i can replace it. Its held on by the laces
The Tread and sole is thick and give a great grip in the mud, keeps the leather part higher off the ground away from the mud.
The sizing seems perfect to me, i bought the same size as i would a pair of shoes. Although i do wear wool socks with the boots and they are thicker than my normal socks...
They are "Hunting Boots", but they stay cool enough to be 3 season boots, (Still too hot for summer though)
